Hi Ho Folks – The s&S stream source has changed again. Please use the ugly, temporary player or links below to access the stream.
Use the player above OR Listen to s&S using Winamp, iTunes, etc.
Apologies for the website negligence dear listeners. So many projects, so little time.
Never fear though, as there’s a brand spankin NEW show (with more in the pipe) in the archive from your Remote Operator – live mixed and originally webcast direct from the PRC – featuring music and noises thereof.
available for streaming or download in the ARCHIVE

Behold an assorted playlist of spooky old timey radio stories, horror movie trailers and soundtracks. There are hours and hours here, so….simply scroll through and pick a track to enjoy,
shuffle the list by clicking on the 3rd control button from the left and let her rip.
To download for portable listening, click on the image on the right hand side of the player for your chosen track. Happy Hallowe’en!
Whether by land, sea or air, your sticky swell s&S sound source is there!
So for your next to-and-fro, enjoy a few NEW goodie music mixes (including playlists) – by your Remote Operator and special guest programmer KNUTe
left leg, right arm and center ear of s&S, the Royal Oculus & Gramophone Co. has for the last year and a half been based in the far side of the PRC – in the city of Ürümqi.
Take a few moments & pay a vicarious visit by way of a playlist collection of incidental & ambient sounds in:
and listen to a few things that make living in a place like this what it is.
Please NOTE: The interns will be conducting a bit of blind maintenance over the next week or so, so the stream server may be down for short periods of time while digital house-cleaning is done.
Also, there is at the moment no dynamic playlist window on the website to tell you what’s been streaming. That’s a puzzle to solve and hopefully that can be operational in some form very soon. Apologies, but we figure re-assembling and offering in stages is better than not sharing anything at all until we’re done, right? You can still rely on your player to tell you wha’s currently playing or look at the shoutcast page
Things on the s&S “To-Do” list:
Thank you again for your patience and support, and of course for the periodic checks for signs of life from this little online outpost. We just needed to re-align the radio telescope a bit to again bring you these Broken Bouncing Mixed-Up radio Waves from your Planet.
yours in sound and servitude,
(and the WOLF !)
by the way, here’s a real kicker:
Being remotely at the controls here in the PRC, I can’t actually hear or monitor the audio stream thanks to the great f*rewall which for some reason kills incoming shoutcast feeds. I can only contribute, operate the site and UK server..but can’t actually tune in to a PEEP! So any reports on stream reception are greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone is out there ripping the thing in continuous hour long chunks or more to carry along in the car and would like to share, please hale via the CONTACT page. I’d be ever so happy about it.
It’s confirmed! The s&S radio stream has at last found a new digital home (no, that’s single space, rack mounted penthouse in the tallest skyscraper in th UK) from which to dispense these sounds to the world once again. Our preliminary tests went without a hitch, but now begins the next phase of moving the sonic merchandise across the Atlantic and getting everything in place before hitting the big sSwitch.
Thanks to everyone who has pitched in for the cause! The donations will continue to go toward upkeep, site fees, a bowl of noodles every now and then, etc.
The biggest thank you unequivocally goes to The Wolf, who has ultimately made this possible.
behold a snippet of conversation that led to the final solution.
While this gets all set in increments over the next couple weeks (we’re workin folks after all, please be patient) feel free to try out the new Archive sampler playlist-players in the Archive: HERE or a Old Timey radio drama HERE
Well folks, it’s not confirmed yet, but we may just be on the right road to being on the air again very soon.
Things are surely lookin up! Thank you to those who’ve dropped a few bucks in the jar. It really does, and will continue to, make a difference!
A HUGE thank you to Admiral R for his champion efforts to get things going….more on that as the situation develops.
