A little correction of misspelling from my previous post. It is "Guloyim", not "Guloyin".

The song title no. 14 from shahrizoda is wrong. It's not "Guzel Ertek" but "Guloyin".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RoRE21TnI4

Gul Yaru band also has some nice songs. I hope you can include one of them in your second vol.

Thanks.

Wow, thanks for this! I've had the hardest time finding Uyghur music for my fiancee and I. She's going to be studying the Uyghur language and people soon, and can't wait to visit Xinjiang again. This will help tide her over.

Hello. I've been tracking Shahrizoda for months and now I am hooked on to Central Asian music. The scenery in their videos is amazing. I would really like to visit Urumqi in the future. You got any more info on Shahrizoda?

Hi.

I'm downloading your cd set right now. I'll be burning it as soon as I figure out some new disk burning software as it appears China destroyed mine through massive incompatibility.

I'm scheduled to present a paper entitled, A Home Away From the Village: An Ethnographic Study of the Cultural and Linguistic Results of the Muslim Uyghur Educational Exodus to Urumqi.

The paper is about some University students I studied when I was teaching English in Urumqi in 2006.

Would it be acceptable to use some of the music I am currently downloading as an example of contemporary Uyghur popular music in the presentation I will give to the American Anthropological Society.

If you have any other advice to give me, that would be appreciated as well.

Hox,

Mary

Hi Fausto,

This compilation is great. thx !
It reminds me a biz trip I did in 96 in Karamay ( west of Urumqi ).
I had a little FM radio ( in fact 2 cheap chinese radios... you know when one breaks... use the other one)
and I was listening a station, thinking... Man ! am I in china or turkey ?

thx again.

Dan from Luxemburg.
