FIELD RECORDINGS: Xinjiang (player)

GO TO PAGE : 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Above are sample excerpts from field recordings done by myself in South Xinjiang. Featured are primarily Uyghur folk songs, though there are examples of Kyrghiz and Kazakh songs as well. These recordings were all made on location in homes, courtyards, yurts, under grape trellises in the oases surrounding the region. You can listen to them all here via the player above, or explore them individually with additional information on the pages listed below.

Due to the current foreign policy there, Uyghur’s culture might disappear, but these sounds are immortal! Thank you very much for your great work, really appreciated! do these recordingis have videos as well? would be a fantastic documentary:)
