My grandmother on my mother's side, Celina (Oma) Figueroa sometime in the 1960's. I have vivid memories of the massive butterflies (large hand-sized) that would come to rest on her kitchen walls and her fondness for whipping up tastey batches of 'sopa de cusuco' (armadillo soup). She died in 1980 of a condition complicated by 'cat scratch fever'.
